Lanka Education and Research Network (LEARN) is the National Research and Education Network (NREN) of Sri Lanka. A National Research and Education Network (NREN) is a specialized Internet Service Provider (ISP) dedicated to support the needs of the research and education communities within a country, and it is distinguished by support for a high-speed backbone network, often offering dedicated channels for individual research projects, in addition to providing many other services.

LEARN is currently implementing a project - Building e-learning Infrastructure in South Asian Countries (BeLISAC) as a co-affiliate from Sri Lanka. The project aims to develop e-learning infrastructure in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. To bring more women into the ICT industry, the project has included an internship dedicated to the capacity building of women engineers which help to prepare them for their professional carrier in system and network environments. 

Applications are hereby invited from citizens of Sri Lanka for the Intern - Web Developing position in our office located at the University of Peradeniya. This is three months structured internship program. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design, develop, and maintain company websites using up-to-date technologies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and design solutions that meet user needs.

  • Write clean, well-documented, and reusable code.

  • Optimize websites for speed, performance, and scalability.

  • Ensure that websites are accessible and meet web standards.

  • Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise.

  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in web development.

  • Continuously improve website functionality and user experience.

  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks. 


 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Proven experience as a web developer, with a portfolio of completed projects.

  • Proficiency in web development languages and technologies such as WordPress, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Query, React, and Angular.

  • Experience with MySQL and MongoDB

  • Knowledge of website optimization techniques for speed, performance, and accessibility.

  • Hands-on experience with setting up a web server such as Apache or Nginx

  • Ability to do database design and modelling.

  • Strong automated unit test and debugging skills.

  • Quick learner and should have a strong drive to achieve results and improve performance.

  • Knowledge about web design and UI/UX principles and technologies

 

Salary & Benefits

  • Allowance of Rs. 40,000 p.m.
